I get your enthusiasm, but the sources and literature you used are superficial regarding important questions. In particular, Moravec and co have only superficially analysed the long-term dynamics of the spinning skyhook. This dynamics is quite complicated I think, and one should be wary whether the hook's spin energy will not be drained over time due to tidal locking or something related. Conservation of angular momentum does not prohibit such a draining: it is the sum of the orbital angular momentum and the spin angular momentum which is conserved and there can be a flow from the latter angular momentum to the former. I have not seen literature or simulations which analyse this question and with some bad luck this might be a show-stopper, no?

A scramjet engine would be able to reach these speeds so we might not even need a rocket ship, however they don't exist yet. But it would definitely be possible to use a ramjet combined with a mass driver to seriously cut down on the weight of the rocket ship, if we can accelerate up to mach 5 with a ramjet then we don't need to carry the oxygen for all of that. The only problem would be that we'd have to carry two engine systems but we could perhaps just make the ramjet compartment a detachable booster plane which after the rockets take over would detach and land back at the spaceport. We already have plane launched rockets so this isn't really all that far out.
